Karen String Tying Festival in Mae Sot on the Thailand-Burma Border, Wednesday 25th August. Drizzling and early in the morning but nonetheless a festival in which the tying of strings around each other’s wrists symbolizes unity, friendship, and longevity not so much of the individual but of the Karen people and their culture.
